Has anyone else noticed that the label on this release says it plays at 33RPM, but it actually plays at 45?

Less energetic and dancefloor obvious than their biggest hits and general musical dynamics, "Veridis Quo" is almost a midtempo oddity in Daft Punk's discography, veering towards a more contemplative and romantic aesthetic, but in my opinion it is not a bad thing as this tune clearly has a unique, unequalled splendor.Think a summary of everything that you like in both cosmic disco, sci-fi sountracks, grandiloquent orchestral classical music, and even certain type of "guiltypleasuresque" stadium electronic pop (say Jean-Michel Jarre meets E.L.O meets Supertramp) ; all put together and mixed in a grandiose, 'simplified' dramatic arpeggiator progression that could sound like the theme tune to a disco version of Phantom Of the Paradise adapted with Star Wars characters.Apparently this tune has a particular aura among Daft Punk 'connoisseurs', and it is not hard to see why. Fantastic!

You know, while I do really like Something About Us, and the B-Side, Dominique Torti's Wild Style Edit of Voyager, I can't help but wonder why Veridis Quo is on here. I even read on one of the entries here, in the pictures, that one of the promos of this record claimed that Veridis Quo was the other love theme from Interstella 5555. Huh? Sure, Veridis Quo is a good song and all, but it's not the other love theme (That goes to Digital Love) and I really do think the original Voyager would have been a much better song to include instead of Veridis Quo.Something About Us and Voyager (Dominqiue Torti's Wild Style Edit) are such great songs though, that it doesn't bother me too much. I'm just a bit disappointed that the original Voyager only got a vinyl release on Discovery.

Sometimes it's the simplest of musical ideas that bring the most satisfaction. "Something About Us" is acceptable fare, the kind of syrupy electro-pop that you might crave every so often, but feast your ears upon "Veridis Quo" and you will be rewarded with a melody that plucks at your heart strings. It is built around a continuously repeating loop with beats that kick in after a short intro. It's a romantic homage to love or life, whatever suits your needs during those sweet 5 or 6 minutes.

Something About Us is one of the best love songs I've everheard. It's music and lyrics are so simple, but these are the things that makes this track essential. The video is a good one also, taken from Interstella 5555, but it's an edited version. Voyager is a good track, but I think it's too repetitive. Its remix is good, though.
