1975 was THE year several of the first 12" singles were released (commercial issue and promo only). Along with the releases mentioned by an earlier post, check out these other influential 1975 releases;El Coco "Mondo Disco"(commercially released)Jesse Green "Nice & Slow" (commercially released) Crown Heights Affair "Every Beat of My Heart" (promo only)Blackbyrds "Happy Music" (promo only)Although there were just a few 12" singles released that year, most were influential international club hits.If 1976 was the year the 'disco industry' exploded, 1975 was the year that sparked the fuse and "Spanish Hustle" played a crucial role.Fun Fact: "Spanish Hustle" was written by the group's keyboardist/trumpeter/ arranger Gerry Brown who, at the time, did double duty as a featured writer/performer with The Jimmy Castor Bunch. In a recent interview (201?), Mr. Brown divulged that this song was passed on (rejected) by Jimmy Castor and so ended up as a single and major international hit for Fatback Band. Shout out to Joey Negro for his 2017 remix of "Spanish Hustle" featured on "Produced With Love" He used the original multitrack tapes to great effect and I think did a great job keeping the song's original Latin disco theme whilst beefing up the overall texture to work well on modern sound systems.

Joey's mix is more of a short dub. It sacrifices most of the song structure, and in essence, the song itself.

Member "Lozza" and anyone else who claims 1975 was too early for a 12" have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. They are millennial "newbies" with no experience who did not live through the club era and cannot comprehend reality when faced with indisputable hard evidence, like an actual copy of a record they did not know existed. There were several US promo-only 12"s from 1975: Love Machine by The Miracles, Spanish Hustle by The Fatback Band, Swearin' To God by Frankie Valli, More, More, More by Andrea True Connection and a few titles on the 20th Century label in addition to a few small label productions that were not hits.

YOU ARE VERY WRONG - There were several US promo-only 12"s from 1975: Love Machine by The Miracles, Spanish Hustle by The Fatback Band, Swearin' To God by Frankie Valli, More, More, More by Andrea True Connection, in addition to a few small label productions that were not hits.

I believe that in 1975 various early disco 12" were released.
JUST DO IT
it was the time where the first 12inch came out, with a idea from Mrs Tom Moulton with José Rodriguezthis track is mastered by J.R. himself ! one of the best song by the band here !!!
Bloodray
"Oh Blimey" what a fantastic coupling of two ultimate Funk tracks from the late 1970's why The USA only had an amazing 12" extended promo disco mix just beggers belief, there was a real shoddy needle drop 12" copy came out on German ZYX DISTORTED AND OVER COMPRESSED This UK 12" makes up for it and is an ablolute must have for ANY collection Note The Genre is really Jazz-Funk nothing electronic in it whatsoever bar keyboards aww and bass guitar!!

Wow, where to begin with this song... The Fatback Band is an extremely talented ensemble that delivered many all-time classics that still sound far better than similar disco music. It is not a coincidence that I consider them as #1 among many others in my huge disco selection. Certainly very dance-oriented, this rare and very sought-after single contains their best song. The "Spanish Hustle" is an extremely dynamic latin-flavoured disco song with strong synth, and saxophone elements. The vocals are minimal but necessary to make the song sound so nice. The quality of the pressing is also excellent. So, we have 3 versions: a) Side one, the 5.54 version which is the best as it's the most dynamic-pure party fever. It also features the tightest TK disco-style percussions, so the song easily also fits in a summery, exotic TK sounding set. But don't let my advise fool you: the song makes a warm atmosphere, so it can be a success all year long into your disco set! The bpm vary between 121 and 124 which is just fine. The B side has 2 versions. The 5.16 (=the album version), 124bpm, is less dynamic, less percussions, but more vocals and saxophone. And the 3.28 version is a shorter version of the A side version. It's also a great addition to a funky house collection. Remember the summer 1999 hit "Spanish Hustle" by Full Intention (Dtension records, 001)? Here you have the original. Get this song if you love real dance music. But don't overplay the vinyl! It's a rare item that requires care-and please wrap it in a polylined sleeve to extend its life...
