I have to agree with the review by restless. This album is a classic of British 1990s electro. I've spoken to many electro producers over the years and almost all of them cite this record as a huge influence. The synth programming alone displays a mastery of sound design that put Finlow way beyond his peers at the time and had a direct influence on the work of Two Lone Swordsmen, Mariel Ito, Volsoc, Bitstream and many others that were to follow. Despite its technical accomplishment it's an album full of human emotions, real melodies and tweaked, analogue, machine funk. Sometimes you have to listen a few times to really get where it's coming from, but once you start to understand the strange, robotic yearning of Unintensional, or the raw, war-like stomp of Electromotive Force, it becomes a highly rewarding listening experience. I actually didn't like much of the album on first listen, but years later it's now a favourite of mine and almost never leaves my record bag.

Hmm, I'm not terribly impressed with this release. Finlow has done a number of other tracks that blow me away, so I actively seek out his material. And here I am, with All Electric House. The electro is decent, but not great. It just doesn't go the distance for me. No high-rising melodies like Rother. No cheesy fun stuff like Komputer. Call these tracks cold, serious electro. Complex & intricate, yes; engaging, no. It could just be me, though, as I'm not really big on electro usually anyhow. But -- the reason for this comment -- the last track (Evaluation) jumps out as a superb, sublime piece of electro-downtempo. Super crisp and smooth; full of emotion and atmosphere. A kompakty bass synth hammers out the measures. The simple electro hat/snare keep the beat. A popcorn plink piques the interest. A single synth note buzzes around your head. A pleasant, but entirely unnecessary, rambling melody fills the later half. Short & sweet!

If you like your electro emotional, 'Unitensional' is the one for you. There is something incredibly moving about this fragile and menacing moment with rampant, unstable bassline and weird little machine noises gaggling around electronic voices decomposing. A sick tune (in the primary sense), and one of my all-time Top10.(And the rest of the album is unique too - a must buy for sure)
