Malahelm
I got it - it's the sound of Flip the grasshopper from the German 70s cartoon series "Biene Maja"!!!
Cezel
According to Paul Elstak, he is the one who give Maurice Steenbergen the advice to use the 'Poing' sound in the whole track.Maurice give Paul his latest demo with a new track. Paul says that the track isn't interesting, except for that 'Poing' sound. He advice Maurice to use that funny sound in the complete track. The rest is history...Years later Paul says that he never get any (public) credits from Maurice of his advice that turned this track into a monster hit. Source: De Gabber-Story, together with DJ Rob.Is it true? I don't know. Its easy saying afterwards...

The "Poing" sound is probably taken from "Schnaps Bonus" by Edelweiss (at least, they used the same sound for their track), which was featured on the 12 inch and CD maxi single release of "Bring Me Edelweiss" ("Schnaps Bonus" is only a rhythm track which is interrupted once in a while by some sound effects). The closing "breaking glass" sound of "Poing" was also used as the intro of "He's a burglar" by Amii Stewart, track recorded for the "Paradise bird" album from 1979. The track "Feyenoord" refers to the main Rotterdam football squad and was recorded as an answer to "Ajax is art" by Robbie & The Kock, Ajax being the main football squad of rivaling city Amsterdam.

The "poing" was taken from the Confetti's track "Basic Theme". It ends with that identical same sound.

The track "Poing" was a very important gabber track and did inspire other artists to make tracks which were inspired by this track. The 12" and cd-single sold a lot of copies all over the world, and the track "Poing" came out on a lot of cd's. Later on it became one of the most annoying songs which were ever made as it stood a couple of years in the Dutch "Veronica's Flop Top 100".

I don't know what Maurice and Danny took before they sat down to make thise track. A mono "Poing" sample, that "sits" on a headbanging base-drum, and wash your brain for five and a half minutes. How silly can you get? What's the point in such minimalism? Couldn't you waste your synthesizers on something a bit more complicated? Did you realy think of making money from this peace of sh**? Well... You probably was right :D Redicules as hell, but It's still one of my favorite tracks. After many years, it keeps making me laugh every time I play it! :D The funny thing was that this track has been follwed by many other tracks, with a similar idea: for example - F.O.X - "Boing" (The "Boing" Sampled from a Classic Kraftwerk Record), Organic Substance - "Driplle" (based on a little sample, which is very femiliar to all the Macintosh users...) Was this the start of the Hardcore-Rave scene?
Undeyn
has gone in history as the highest ranking hardcore track ever in the (commercial) dutch charts (1992).
Dainris
This record has been used by the fans of WEST BROMWICH ALBION FOOTBALL CLUB to dance and celebrate a goal ... It is out of this world to see thousands of fans boing ....you must try and see video footage of this
