Dean & Britta come from the most wonderful group on the planet, LUNA. This album is deeply personal and though I think they'd be embarrassed to hear this, it's about their love. It's a very mature album, but has lost non of the turns and double takes you've come to know and expect from Luna. It's a shy album, you have to desire to let yourself be taken inside of it. Dean has always lived in his own world, and here Dean shares the vocals with Britta more then ever before ... and her voice is perfect. I saw them in Philadelphia [the first show of their current 2007 tour], with about 500 other people on a cold weekday night. I'd just returned from New Mexico where I'd had a perfect time, and now I was having yet another perfect moment. The parking ticket we got didn't even matter. The band is on top of their game, mixing chords one wouldn't think possible. Dean's voice seems to have gotten even lower, if that's possible, but then in the next second, he can step it up several octaves.Dean & Britta blend and mix their voices with pleasure, as others mix notes on guitars, which they haven't done before in a manner so up front ... and they bring it home in the magical way I can’t get enough of. The electronics which flow under and through each song are nothing short of perfection. Don’t expect surprise here, this release is very dreamy and atmospheric, simply textured and layered with all of the warmth and depth you could possibly hope for.You can see where they signed my disc on my home page. [Friday, the 5th of June, 2009], it’s evident that you’ve settled on some choice selections from Dick’s Picks by The Grateful Dead circa 1978, and like true starship troopers embracing drugs that end in “pam,” have mastered the technique of “the jam.” While Dean & Britta don’t stretch out for twenty minutes or more, the songs echo a blistering slow-drive, neo-psychedelic, mind bending, danceable set, well suited for the return of LSD, or those lustrous Mushrooms that just never seem to go out of fashion.Dean.
