Anazan
This volume holds some nostalgia, as it was the first standard SEB album I bought (I had an Initial D compilation or two before that). I figured that I might as well review it.01 People of the World: If they want to meet all of us, when's my turn? :Þ 7/1002 Balalaika, Vodka, and Rock & Roll: I hadn't heard much Hi-NRG Attack when I first heard this, so I thought it was really good and different from most eurobeat, but now I've played it to death. Still, it's so catchy. 8/1003 My Lonely Night: A lesser-used alias of Claudio Magnani, a.k.a. Mad Max. I think there's a formula to how this alias is used, as I've only seen songs with this alias written by Laurent Newfield and Alessandro Gilardi, though that's probably not entirely true. This is long, but otherwise good. 7/1004 From Heartache To Heaven: Didn't really care for it when I first heard it, still don't now. 4/1005 Feel It In Your Heart: Initially, Annalise was my favorite female vocalist. As my eurobeat collection grew, that's changed, but she's still one of them, and this is a good reason why. 9/1006 Flame And Fire: This is my favorite non-cover Roberta Grana song. Still, it has the problems that I find in most SinclaireStyle songs, such as a lack of a real ending (it sort of just dies) and an overall odd sound. Not bad, not great. 6/1007 Heartbreak: I call Mauro Farina the Godfather of Eurobeat, because he was really the pioneer for almost everything in the genre. In this song, he doesn't disappoint. This is pretty fast, probably above 160 BPM. 9/1008 Bad Boy: In an earlier review I said that once you hear one Hi-NRG Attack song, you've heard most of them. This is one of the exceptions, aside from the backing vocals. A great change of pace for the label usually associated with bazookas and things. 8/1009 Dance Dance: I forgot how good this song really is. One of those Delta songs that has the soul of a 90s eurobeat song. Newfield and Moroni deliver yet again. 10/10.10 Baby Take Me High: This is a more typical Nuage song: about 145 BPM, sort of poppy, uplifting. Of course, this has the 2007-8 A.Beat-C sound to it, so it's a little different. 7/10.11 Spirit Go Wild: SCP combines its trance-like eurobeat with the sound Go 2 brought around for this song. 8/1012 Stormbringer: This was only the second SEB appearance for Dima Music, but I didn't know that at the time. For some reason, the line "there's a stupid lady, she can make me understand" makes me smile every time I hear it. 8/1013 You Give Me More: Time had never been big on duet songs. Even most of their "plural" aliases (Time Force, etc.) usually had only one singer. I do think Giordano Gambogi (Phil) makes a good complement to Elena Ferretti (Linda). It isn't quite typical late Time, but it's close. This has grown on me. 8/10Total rating: 98/130, about 7.5/10
