Just finally ordered a copy of this classic blackened/thrash/death Metal and not only is this a great album (which I knew prior to buying this copy) but the production quality on this reissue sounds really good. I was thoroughly impressed both with the cover/inner sleeve/insert and the very nice looking yet subtle red & black marble coloring of the record itself. Very pleased to finally own this copy on vinyl and highly recommend to anybody out there to get themselves a copy especially fans of “Altars Of Madness” by Morbid Angel, “Spectrum Of Death” by Morbid Saint, “Prophecies Of A Dying World” by Revenant or “Epidemic Of Violence” by Demolition Hammer.

All time classic of raging, blazing, amazing death thrash from Sweden. A band who have had a tremendous influence (and played huge roles in other great bands) on the Swede thrash scene to this day. Recorded in 1989 and released in 1990 this is 30 minutes of some of the most extreme thrash metal (with a big hyper-speed hardcore/crossover influenced sound like Genocide/Repulsion) ever recorded. Up there with the best of Protector (Germany), Aggressor (France), Massacra (France), Insanity (San Fran), Mortuary (Mexico), Incubus/Opprobrium (Brazil/Louisiana), Morbid (Sweden), early Sadus (California). Schizo (Italy), etc. The riffs are like a whirlwind of power and super well written, the vocals are cord shredding (mid-range death vocals to the "black metal shriek" i.e. Bathory-esque, Kreator-"Total Death" on meth), songs catchy, and the album just a timeless classic. The first release on the legendary Deathlike Silence label (created/run by Euronymous of Mayhem fame). If you can't afford an original pick up the Osmose Records reissue from 15 or so years ago. Essential if you like your thrash as over the top (raw, yet with great precision) as it gets. "The Awakening" is as mind-blowing today as it was in '89-'90...

Oh wow, I didn't know this Cult album also got a "Children's reissue treatment" on pic disc with poster (blabla...) in the recent years....I wonder who was stupid enough to shit on the great DSP legacy with this one (??!)....damn, so many posers are given the rights to (re)release records today in modern children's versions.....The last true Cults are dying.

By years, this version was considered as bootleg due the different matrix in comparision with the DURECO matrix. However, regarding several sources, this version is 100% genuine and it was officially comissioned by Deathlike Silence Productions owners to CD PLANT.

This version is probably the really first press sold in the first Merciless gigs.

This is indeed the original pressing. I've done a TON of researching on releases of this album overall, and most sources point to this being the very original pressing. (red ring)

Apparently so. I own a copy of this fortunately. Never seen too many of the red ring versions out there.

Just got a copy of this in the mail a few days ago. Tracks 1 and 8 are correct on my copy, maybe the defect has since been corrected.

Is there any difference between the two registered first presses? This one and the one not marked Lacquered. Or is it just double registration?
