Throw her heart

Although a lot of the material is available on earlier releases/bootlegs, there is some rare early live material, you get to hear the band developing tunes, there's interesting mixing on alternate takes of familiar tracks, and some material that is totally new. The set runs chronologically. Highlights on disk one are the previously unheard "Title #3" and "Taking Care of No Business", an early instrumental studio version of "Lover Man", the freaky mix of "If 6 was 9", and the excellent upbeat live version of "Rock Me Baby" that has previously been released on the Monterey album. The best of Disk two are the great instrumental studio versions of "Little Wing" and "Bold as Love", along with the live version of "Catfish Blues" (this is a year earlier than the set found on the Stages Box Set). Disk three has decent live material that is available on "The Last Experience" and on the "Stages" Box Set, the highlight of these being "Red House", it also has a great alternative version of "Spanish Castle Magic". Disk Four, is all material from the "Cry of Love" era, the highlight is the amazing version of "Johnny Be Goode" from the fantastic Berkeley set, which is available on the release of the concert, and on "Hendrix in the West" (I would highly recommend you get a copy of the whole concert). It includes the instrumental "Country Blues", and "Slow Blues", the rest are just alternative takes, or live material available elsewhere. This isn't a place to start your Hendrix journey, but there's enough here that Hendrixphiles will find enjoyable, not sure it's worth the price tag, but maybe that's because I already have a lot of the material.
