One of those brain-buster records that set thousands of malcontents to the garage to toil on their own glorious noise. D.R.I. has left big footprints across the globe. Listen to Mob 47, Heresy or Ataque Frontal and tell me that "Dirty Rotten" was not part of their lexicon. "Dirty Rotten" raised the ante, previously set by the Neos and Gang Green, and took it to dizzying new levels. Some bashed D.R.I. for giving birth to generic thrash, and while some of their offspring may be less than inspired, one can't rightly hold it against these courageous originators. On "Dirty Rotten," D.R.I. laid it all out in black and white: "This is good, that is bad." Such hardcore opining is exactly that -- hardcore. D.R.I. spoke their collective mind and stuck to their words and this platter is their defining statement.

I heard from Steve of Heresy/Ripcord(and many others,), that they listened to a cassette by Youth Korps,as well. That came out a shade earlier,September '82 the YK cassette began to be sold. That's the reality.

Very well put!! They are our forgotten heroes !!!So many have been influenced from Slayer to Napalm Death. I remember buying the original vinyl(not the holy Grail 7", close second with the vinyl that was released tge same year)Just staring in awe of the raw cover. Back of the drummers head I think?Every track was fast and brutal! So ahead of it's time. Way better than their Boston contemporaries, Siege
