This is soooo goooood. For me this is the perfect example for this dark mid 90s boom bap sound!!

Very much a slow-burning grower, particularly if you were previously taken by the untouchable Runaway Slave (in the running for one of my favorite hip-hop albums ever). On Goodfellas, the atmosphere is much, much darker, dustier, and colder. Show has dropped the mic leaving A.G. and his cohorts D-Shot, Party Arty, and Wally World to pick up the slack. The beats here are overwhelmingly stark and minimal, even more so than some of Show's other outside production credits around the time. While this takes a good many listens to break through to, the results are still masterful, and Show's crates have impressively reached to stranger corners of the music world (the soundtrack to Altered States and Delia Derbyshire to use two notable examples). One of the only melodic respites from the hard-as-nails boom-bap comes with both Show and Premier's distinctively different yet simultaneously brilliant takes on "The Next Level," a stellar a single as the group would ever release. Elsewhere, lots of deep, dank head-crackers: "Check It Out," "Got Your Back," "Medicine," "Neighborhood Sickness," "You Want It." Notably, the tracklisting changed from the initial promo tape, with a few of the album's potentially best cuts ("Under Pressure" among them) getting left on the cutting room floor. Regardless, still very worth the find, even if it takes its time to sink in.

In response to Xelcior, some of the tracks are loops and some are the full instrumentals. I have found with this series of bootlegs, if the full instrumental exists - they use it, if the instrumental was not commercially available at the time, they made a loop, or sometimes 2 loops, edited together, taken from the original records.Full instrumentals on this release i belive include "Got The Flava", both versions of "You Know Now" and both versions of "Next Level".I don't own the original records so its hard to compare the sound quality - but it sounds OK on my stereo.. - Although the grooves in the record are slightly "off centre" - so when playing the needle moves left and right , making the pitch wow/flutter go up/down a little.. I've found this sometimes to be the case with boots or cheap pressings.. But luckily its not too bad on the pressing I own.All in all, this release a good (& cheap!) alternative to spending crazy money on the OG's imo. Some of the other boots in this series of instrumental records are not so good though, always check which instrumentals are available commercially first - the rest will probably be loops...

One of my favorite albums period, I love Runaway Slave but this release is on point production and lyrically. Show & AG always put out solid shit

These instrumentals seem like edited sections taken from the originals, where there is no vocals. Anyone with a basic knowledge of editing could do the same thing. I was hoping they would have been the original instrumental tracks in their entirety but fail to deliver, in my humble opinion.

Regular for bootleg instrumental LPs. Same garbage as all the Mobb Deep, Nas, Wu-Tang instrumental boots out there.
