Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on December 23, 1961 (#8-10), January 13 (#1-7), 1962.

#1-5 originally issued as "Nigeria" (Blue Note LT 1032) in 1980.
#8-10 originally issued as "Gooden's Corner" on Japanese Blue Note in 1979 [sic].
#6-7 originally issued a Mosaic Records collection in 1989 [sic].

Unlike the US and EU editions, the Japanese release of this set was split into two separate volumes.
This, Vol.1, is titled "The Complete Quartet with Sonny Clark Vol.1" on the booklet's front and back covers and tray card.
The obi, spines, inside front page of the booklet and the CD face add the title "Airegin".
In all cases, the word "Quartets" has been shortened to "Quartet".
Despite the "Oleo" album appearing on Vol.2, its liner notes are included here.
None of the three sets of English liner notes have been translated into Japanese.
