Notes

"Exclusive For Japan"

Tracks 1-1, 1-2 and 3-1 to 3-22's artists per track are not given on release.
Track 3-9's title is incorrectly called 'Shadow's Legitimate Mix (Alternate Version)'.

Because of high demand on limited edition The 4-Track Era (Volume 1: Best Of The KMEL Mixes ), The 4-Track Era (Volume 2: Best Of The Remixes And Megamixes (1990-1992)) and The 4-Track Era (Volume 3: Best Of The Original Productions (1990-1992)) (and to stave off bootlegs), a small run of the collection with new artwork and packaging (shown above) was released in 2009 exclusively for Japan. It did not include the bonus disc as part of The 4-Track Era Collection (1990-1992).

Volume 1: Best Of The KMEL Mixes
These were among the first all-rap (no R&B, no crossover) mixes to ever air on commercial radio in the Bay Area. Recorded in 1991 on Shadow's Yamaha MT-100 4-Track cassette recorder and mastered to DAT.

Volume 2: Best Of The Remixes & Megamixes (1990-1992)
Culled from the 'Reconstruction' tape series, these tracks showcase Shadow's blitzkrieg cut-and-paste style utilizing the best music of the era. Everyone from Eric B & Rakim to Cutty Ranks and even TKA receive the Shadow treatment, to varied and remarkable effect. Previously heard only by a handful A&R men, and specially mastered for this release via Yamaha MT-100 4-Track cassette recorder.

Volume 3: Best Of The Original Productions (1990-1992)
Throughout Junior High and High School, Shadow was studying and practicing DJ techniques; and by the time his 4-Track cassette was purchased, he had amassed a collection of original breaks and loops. No longer content to just mix other people's music, he decided it was time to attempt his own. The tracks contained on this disc represent the very beginnings of the Shadow's experiments in original song productions.

All tracks name obtained with CDDB apart disc 3, which track list is given. Released in digipak format.
