Notes
Original RCA Victor Red Seal CD release of selected symphonies and tone poems by Jean Sibelius, digitally recorded in 1994 and 1996 by The London Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, with featured vocalists Hillevi Martinpelto and Karl-Magnus Fredriksson, all under the baton of Sir Colin Davis. The packaging features a twenty-page booklet with track information, liner notes by David Wright , brief uncredited biographical notes for both the conductor and featured vocalists, and a detailed libretto for "Kullervo" by Elias Lonnrot (after oral tradition!), translated by Keith Bosley, on the interior pages; and color front and back covers, the former featuring a combination of artwork by Photonica and a photo of the conductor by Richard Houghton, and the latter featuring a partial listing of other, contemporaneous RCA Victor Red Seal CD releases by the conductor. (The booklet notes that the "English translation of 'Kullervo' reprinted from 'The Kalevala: An Epic Poem after Oral Tradition' by Elias Lonnrot translated by Keith Bosley [1989] by permission of Oxford University Press.")Barcode and Other Identifiers
