Snowseeker
this was a nice dutch 1984 reissue of the same as a late 60s ( commmon ) germany compilation lp................ laminated sleeve

This is an excellent Direct Hits lp test pressing set issued by Classic Records in 2005, which includes a never released 2nd lp, which includes the original Shel Talmy produced Who songs that were not released on the My Generation lp. This is the only vinyl issue to include these songs cut from the actual Shel Talmy mono master tapes - all other vinyl mono issues of these songs are from tape copies. Approximately 20 copies of this lp set were pressed.
Gigafish
my copy of this says volume two just like the sleeve you see photographed here for this site and was released on the red polydor label in australia, i belive there is an earlier aussie pressing of this comp on the black international label to, THIS COPY the one i have , i feel is an early to mid 1970s reissue........................ the black international label issue would be the late 1960s and i do not have that lp yet.
I am hcv men
this was a nice budget reissue released sometime between 1983 and 1986 in germany, this was part of the EDITION budget series and is the same compilation and has the same track listing as the original 1968 german compilation w/ the same artwork on the sleeve and all, there was another budget reissue of this comp from germany released under another series in 1984 called the millions series so that is why i ballpark this release between 1983 and 1986, the EDITION series also did roger daltreys debut 1973 solo album and pete townshends debut solo album who came first as well as this who compilation, nice laminated sleeve, rather thin vinyl record...............ps as any who collector knows this compilation was also released in the late 60s/early 70s in other markets like australia, eastern europe etc etc, the last known pressing of this was from the former czechoslovakia ( now czech repbulic) in 1985......
Glei
i got this on the czech supraphon label years ago in mint condition, odd that a different sleeve was not used for this as it was pressed in 1985 and the original sleeve was german 17 years before in 1968, a few other territories used this sleeve as well so there for it is a common sleeve but this pressing is not..................

This Japanese version uses true stereo and true mono masters, unlike the UK original issue. Hence, it is not "the same album as the UK release". Details e.g. here: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/direct-hits-the-most-fun-who-album.315197/

I have this album but with a A-1 / B-1 matrix. Can't see it referenced anywhere. Can anyone help?
Vinainl
this is the japan reissue of this compilation that originally came out on track records in the uk in 1968, this reissue came out in 1980 and was released by polydor kk japan, this comes with a nice fat thick red obi strip as it came in a series and has a nice one page japan insert..
Goldenfang
this is a rather common uk compilation released on track records back in 1968 in the uk, this has a nice laminated sleeve as well, i always felt this was a strange sleeve but it is still nice...........
Akelevar
I have this album but with an A-1/B-1 matrix (stereo) but haven't seen it referenced anywhere. Have you any info about this.....is it also common?
Daigrel
this is a real nice dutch sleeve from 1968 and the front of the sleeve is laminated and the back is not, also this has a flip back sleeve, another really nice dutch who comp from the 60s.....
Sat
Please state which tracks are mono, stereo or re-processed stereo?
Bloodfire
I believe the black label version is entitled simply "The Best Of The Who" but the later red label version adds "Volume 2" to differentiate it from the previous "Best Of The Who". Unlike the German release, the Australian release has the back cover photo in black and white not colour.
Simple
The first Japan issue of the 'Direct Hits' lp and one of the most wonderful looking Who album covers there is!
Gavinranara
this is a nice reissue from the late 70s of this dutch compilation that was originally released in 1970 in holland, this lp has a very nice 1969/70 era live shot and is fully laminated, all tracks are 60s tracks................
Puchock
this was a late 70s reissue of this nice dutch compilation of 60s tracks by the who, the original lp was released around 1970 in holland, this is the 1979 reissue with the same laminated sleeve and track listing, nice live 1970 tommy tour shot on the sleeve as you can see.............................
Геракл
this is a nice early 70s pressing of this who compilation that was released in taiwan that consists 60s tracks, the sleeve is very thin so it is very prone to ring wear and or seam splits as well as age wear but they are still great copies out there as i found a nm one about 5 years back, the audio sound is no where near as good as a japan pressed lp but this is still great to have if you are a who collector...............
Shalizel
this was a very nice run of the mill dutch who compilation from the mid 1970s, the sleeve is a decent live shot, pretty much the same live shot that was used for the 2 lp french compilation BEST OF THE LAST 10 YEARS wich was released in france in 1975, basically this is just a single lp copy of the same compilation, very nice laminated sleeve.........
Arilak
this is another very nice japan made official release of this compilation lp wich originally came out on track in the uk in 1968, this was also reissued in japan on polydor in 1980 as an lp, this is a cd mini replica of the japan lp HOWEVER the obi strip on this is not a replica of the japan obi strip that was on the original japan lp, this lp was not issued in japan in the 60s or 70s i am 99.9% sure anyway the remastering on this disc is great and as you can see it has a host of great 60s who on here......
