With the idea of creating something different starting from Bossa Nova, a style marked by traditionalism and the emulation of its idols, Felipe Lion – a “carioca” (from Rio) singer and composer based in Sao Paulo – brought together a group of young musicians in a combo he called Last Aliens in Rio. Initially he recorded a demo with songs written in English and sent it to several European and American labels. In no time he received several proposals, finally opting for Swedish label Mareld after his art director, Håkan Ludvigson, encouraged him to sing in Portuguese. The debut album, Teu Doce Jeito de Dizer Adeus (The Lovely Way You Say Goodbye) was released in June 2015, remaining for several weeks in the Top Charts of iTunes Brazil. One of the songs, O Luar de Havana , entered the rankings of several other countries, including South Korea. The second album, Bossa Nova Hotel, released in September 2016 by Italian label RNC Music, immediately entered the best-selling list of iTunes Brazil. The album, with 10 songs, is based on 7/8 Bossa beat – Lion’s trademark – played with a jazzy touch. The very “carioca” song Onde Tú Tá? and the pop song A Gente se Cola are outstanding. In addition to bossas, there is also space for beautiful songs like Asas Acrílicas and Giorgia Lullaby, where Lion exploits all his melodic and poetic potential to create two small and delicate jewels.
