Always enjoyed the music of Nemesis, although their output over the years has been a bit inconsistent, but this album is really just amazing. All the way from the capturing rhytms of the opening track to the 9 part "Evolution suite" that closes the album, this is elegant, tasty, melodic, diverse and highly original electronic music of the highest quality. The cascading rhytms of the title track, the subtle melody line and dynamic arrangements on "Karyon" and the multilayered synths on "Nautilus" are some highlights from this album. Here is also a beautiful new version of "the Well" from their debut Xcelsior album. With excellent sound quality, Gigaherz takes Nemesis right into the top league of electronic music. Touches of berlin school and nordic ambient music. In the regions where Biosphere and Erik Wollo meets David Wright or Frank van Bogart. Did I mention the beautiful cover art as well? Nice digipack with booklet. This is one CD I am so happy to recommend to all of you guys enjoying genuinly good electronic music.

Gigaherz is Nemesis' first album on Origo Sound. Featuring music that was composed betwen 1996 and 2003 and updated for this new album, the 15 tracks make up an epic audio journey that presents mankind's evolution from sea creatures to extinction. Says Ami Hassinen, founding member, about the theme of Gigaherz; "The nature is a very important issue to all of us. And the recent developments concerning the changes in climate makes one think quite a bit. Actually, I have no worries about the fate of the planet, as everything finds its balance in due course, but will there be any human beings left to witness it? I don´t know. For the mankind, I am sure that the next 100 years will be an increasingly challenging time. Musically, this inspired us to tell a story about the Earth in audio format."Nemesis is the Finnish trio Ami Hassinen (synths, guitar, bass, sound effects), Jyrki Kastman (synths, keyboards, effects) and Joni Virtanen (keyboards, synths). Ami and Jyrki started making music together in the mid-80s, after having been exposed to science fiction, astronomy and the music of certain artists. In 1994 they secured their first record deal; Xcelsior became the first electronic / ambient record from Finland to be released internationally.
