Cover drawing "untitled" by Imi Knoebel, 29.8cm x 21cm, pencil and pen on paper, 1973.

Artwork on rear of Digipak case gives the logo of the Eye Q label (the parent label of Recycle Or Die) and the text "recycle or die is a label of EYE Q records" so presumably this release is on the Recycle Or Die label although there also exists another issue with the same artwork but with the ROD logo on the back.

My copy has a Virgin price sticker on dated 1994 when the cost of this CD was £14.29. Good grief... 24 years ago this CD was £14.29, which, according to the Bank of England inflation calculator, equates to £26.47 today. I find that astonishing.

As reviewed by me in May 1994. (What is with the Art of Noise references? This sounds nothing like them!):Summary: Repetitive development of themes, rich and full, never synthetic. Late night soundtrack for dreamers. Very good stuff. Its ironic that they would package music no one in their right mind would have any intention of recycling in digipaks that cost about 20% more than the average import CD. In spite of the half-brained marketing, this is like Lights In A Fat City on fast-forward. Slightly more electronic, but with a warm, full sound that for some reason makes me think of The Art of Noise. Each track is repetitive but unique, overflowing with several layers of musical, unstructured trance. No bleeps or traditional techno-style noises here, though; the emphasis is on developing organic themes. Philip Glass may have been an influence, Eno probably taught them a lot, and I think much of this they developed on their own. I like this disc a lot; especially the rhythmic "Bake Daga" and the clockwork-inspired "Has Bean". Recommended.
