Notes
"The third international ESTA-Conference took place in April 1976 at Schloß Elmau, and apert from highly interesting lectures, it included several concerts. They added to the memorable character of the general atmosphere. Performances were given by the "Brahms-Tio" (Kirsti Hjort, piano -- Conrad von der Goltz, violin Jan Polasek, cello) and the Youth Orchestra of the Music School Lahr under the leadership of its Director, Klaus Matakas. There was also a Bach-Concert given by Yehudi Menuhin and a Beethoven Solata-Recital performed by Max Rostal and Guter Ludwig. Many Participants proposed that these concerts should be available on records and the same wish was expressed also by those ESTA-members who were prevented from attending the conference, but were informed by their colleagues of its success. Accordingly, ESTA has endeavoured to comply with this wish. All the concerts were in fact recorded on tape, but an entire issue being impossible, a selection had to be made based also upon many suggestions.
These discs are the result of private tape reordings and are particularly destined to serve ESTA-members and their friends. Please note that they have not been made in a studio in the usual commercial way, and they are a true reproduction of the concerts themselves. Therefore, the price for the two records equals the usual expense for one commercial disc only.
If ESTA is successful in selling enough records beyond covering its expenses, the association may have a slight financial surplus which could ease its unfavourable economical position. The ESTA is most grateful to all the artists who have given their services without any fee.
The association hopes that the reproduction of the concerts may contribute to the beautiful memory of this remarkable meeting and give joy to its members".
