Think of Melvins crossing with the Swans with the pace of Godflesh yet distinctively unique.Rocky and Doom ridden the landscape described susbscribing to barren oil extraction fields vistas , abandoned fabrics and rusty machinery.Theres no trace of electronic adorns or synthetic drums here, this is metallic mayhem clangour ridden by Doom guitar riffs and burnt vocals, bringing back old school industrial and noise rock together.Although rhythm fills a huge part of the album effects, abundant feedback noise, distortion and uncompromised noise precise the limits of the work, certainly not for the faint of heart.My favorite track is Glisten. It's a somehow divergent note amidst the harsh merciless filthyness of the album, a hint of Controlled Bleeding more experimental side, a pretty heavy and noisy introduction softened by some almost mystic choral and dense bass lines, a glimpse of glory in the darkness. Obviously it is just a brief moment of peace as a brutal machinery like dirge comes in and erases anything in a contrasting ear rape.One of those albums, like some books, and movies, you just listen once or twice in your lifetime. Too much to bear, and a difficult digestion. Although it deserves a nomination for one of the heaviest, most depressive and violent albums.
