AFTER THE END sees Håkan Lidbo moving in a more abstract, oftentimes ambient, direction. "Open Circle" keeps things minimal, with deep bass hits and a skittering percussion as the synths in the background start to rise, while "Prewinder" brings in a lonely flugelhorn that lingers momentarily in the jittery breaks of the continually morphing "Ovaloids." "Hypercube," however, gets much more creepy as its samples come and go, but some brightness finally emerges with "Noise Objects." The title track is nearly ambient and seems to linger in the air, but the heftier beats of "Bi-Angular" helps the album make contact. A fascinating listen overall.

For me it's a major milestone for a modern minimal electronic music. Beatifully produced cracks and clikcs with cute unpretentious jazzy snippets Flanger could be jealous of. Funky as hell and it was recorded in 1999 actually. If you like the likes of Flanger, Cabanne or the whole Perlon output, you will just LOVE this. Pity that this record has just gone unnoticed by many listeners.
