Absolutley brilliant album. Fantastic tunes and top production... When's this getting a vinyl release?

Christian Prommer and Alexander Barck are both well-known producers in their own right, but when they join forces for ALEX AND THE GRIZZLY, they lift each other even higher. The dreamy "Pictures of the Sea" shifts constantly, from a classical string breakdown to an electronic disco thump, while "Submarine Bells" dives immediately into mid-tempo house with vocal samples or jazz guitar occasionally swimming through. The slower groove of "Lovin'" gives way to electro-blues, with Lois Longerling taking vocal duties. And even if the male vocals aren't the strongest, the deep percussion of "Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde" changes personality as well. But "Everything" and "The Barking Grizzle" are more straightforward in their jazz-house, just as "Journey" is with its electro influences, or "Soweto Symphony" with its African elements. But the dreaminess and ugent thrum of "Sleeping Beauty" make it stand out. "Faces From The Past" ends the album on a more sedate note, though with their trademark shfits in tone intact. This is an album you'll love to grin and bear.
