DOME IV - WILL YOU SPEAK THIS WORD, released by the enterprising Uniton label (from Norway), was again surprising in many ways, not least for the supporting cast of musicians including one Warren Clarke (of Yazoo) on the then new Fairlight and much involvement from one Terrence Leach on saxophones. The musical focus was understandably very different, far more electronic and polished, yet despite that it was still hard-edged and industrial sounding, and in many ways the sum of all the ideas that had gone before. Particularly haunting is the 18 minute track To Speak, with its dense slabs of electronic sound and an ambivalent blending of styles. But no less fascinating were the five shorter tracks, each a new twist and progression on past ideas, well that's excepting the unprecedented Seven Years, an overload of looped mechanical sounding electronics. A remarkable album in all, still fresh and challenging ten years on.From my Dome article in Audion magazine #25 (June 1993)
