After a few more listens and a cleaning session, the noise is actually not so bad, but still noticeable. Overall a lovely item!

Masterpiece of an album but a pretty poor pressing which other have noted. Not impressed with BM at all over this one. Consistent surface noise and crackle throughout detracts from the stellar mastering job that was performed. While you have to expect a bit of noise with vinyl and have likely learnt to filter out. My copy also has an imperfection of glued/stuck paper on the track section, not cheap records so was not expected. That said it really is a beautiful package! I'm torn as to send back, or put up and shut up. Buyer be cautious.

As for wirelessdarkness' comment, it might be relevant if people weren't reporting the same issue with the black-vinyl versions ... but they are (a few I've talked to at least). So that argumentation doesn't hold, as it doesn't explain the poor-quality black-vinyl versions.Secondarily, it's as Neurodynamo says: in 2016, we should have a reasonable expectation the records in question will not have notable surface noise and repetitive pops upon first playing. I have scores (hundreds, probably) of colored and pictured vinyl, and yet I've never had any of them sound so dubious upon first playing. So even if we acknowledge the idea that some of us chose to buy non-black versions, it still doesn't justify the issues at hand. And really, if Blood Music knows such a high percentage (at least potentially) of the colored/clear records will have surface noise, then why knowingly sacrifice audio quality for the very same cosmetic appeal you mention? Just press them all on black to ensure audio integrity.

I bought all 3 black vinyl albums brand new and sealed - they are terrible ....I have sent them back .. it is a disgrace
Wooden Purple Romeo
No excuses in this day and age with latest technology all my 3 albums are terrible as I have mentioned I have ambient vinyl made 20 years ago that still sounds better . To me who paid a lot it is a disgrace :(
