anyone else's copy of this pressed extremely badly? mine is visually NM, perfect, yet sounds like complete dirt (constant surface noise). the mp3s i have sound fairly noisy too, but nowhere near this. i know they're not all like this - i've heard some of the tracks sounding fine in mixes - but perhaps there's a bad batch of them. (all of my other mosaics sound great...)

It mostly depends on what type of stylus you use. You mentioned that you when heard the track inside several mixes it sounded pretty good and clean. Most DJs use conical stylus which has a smaller contact surface than an elliptical one and tends to pick-up less noise. Elliptical stylus has a larger vertical contact surface and reads information with a higher amount of detail in comparison with the conical stylus, hence the additional noise.There is also a question of clean-up. Using a carbon fiber brush is not always enough, especially if the vinyl has some dirt stuck inside the grooves. Try giving it a wash-up and use the carbon fiber brush to gather the dust.
