Open Up And Bleed: One of the best songs ever...never properly recorded.

Perhaps the definitive collection of (post-) Raw Power-era outtakes. Many might not like it for the recording quality (especially sides C & D), but it has a perfect tracklist and a decent mastering, which probably was a hell of a job since a great deal of this came from pretty crappy sources. The liner notes hit the nail on the head: "The world is a much worse place for not having a professionally recorded version of Open Up And Bleed, but we have the best of what there is."

I received mine today. However mine was white vinyl and not the ordered blue. Anybody else who have experienced that?

hello the white is in the studio and the asul is live, I recommend the two

To start with mine are the colour of white. For someone who haven't listened to these songs except in passing and bits and parts in documentaries, I'm having such a blast right now. It's like hearing I Wanna Be Your Dog or Search and Destroy for the first time again. Like I said, I have nothing to compare these particular versions, but I can say that I haven't any complaints about the pressing. It's pretty much free from clicks and pops. It comes in glossy paper inners though, so look out for static. I always give my records a couple of turns in front of my ionizing blower. Works a treat! The sleeve is matte with coarse fibres, which I really dig. A very fine release indeed. Lots of love went in to this it seems.

Sound quality on this collection while very good overall is just a little uneven. The first disc of older recordings sounds very well produced, more akin to out-takes from some Raw Power era studio recording sessions. Disc two while more raw and condensed also features a healthy dose of tape hiss on some tracks. The actually pressing quality seems quite good. No issues with my copy although the cover artwork seems like it could easily be scratched off by mild abrasion. The heavy paper printed inner sleeves feature a slick inner surface that may inhibit paper marks. (Let's hope anyway)A+

It starts off really well In terms of sound quality but does not deteriate enough to make a big impact in the listenin experience really nice to have a few songs of this fixed up to really enjoyed the album.
