Ramsey`s
Interesting late 60's hippie folk album that touches on several different styles. Sporting both male and female vocalist, this album goes from straight-forward folkrock, to baroque-style folk, to a jazzy folk number that reminds me of Youngbloods, to a couple of country-folk songs, to a pretty rockin' cover of Tim Hardin's "Yellow Taxi". The arrangements are always interesting (with harpsichord, violin, cello, piano, acoustic and electric guitar, fiddle, drums, and both electric and acoustic bass), and the playing is always engaging. Most of the songs are love songs, but there are a few that touch on the typical hippie issues of the day (war, enviorment, etc.) Overall a nice listen all the way though (even though the running time is only 29 minutes) and recommended to collectors of American underground folkrock.
