Musical Aura Island

What can I say? Battleships next to Pachanga Boys - Time changed my life when he played those two together in Fabric last year. As it turns out that's practically the only track I like here. Pretty upset really, can be summized in a few words - "a collection of cheesy vocals" - I mean, seriously some of this I'd expect from Above and Beyond.Off topic : The Tale of Us Renaissance mix more than made up for my disappointment. Every track is stand out

I never really was a huge fan of the first two in the series. But I think his melodic style really comes through on this one, and the vocal parts, while a bit excessive, are truly well done. Best tracks on this album include the one from The XX and also "Battleships". For those who enjoy this album I would recommend Guy Gerber's Fabric 64 which sounds really similar (but with far less vocals). Can't complain too much because the vocals are for the most part tasteful and not overly sappy. It's not progressive house anymore, it's mostly synth-pop or electronic pop. Look at it from that perspective (instead of comparing it to the Sasha of old) and you will appreciate this album much more. Honestly, most of the negative comments are from those who expected a repeat of Involver 1 and 2, which are progressive house mixes. I'm glad Sasha is changing his style, keeping it fresh and new. It's a great album for electronic indie fans - those who listen to The XX, Foals, Lana Del Rey, Hot Chip, etc.
