Wow! I’m blown away. I wish all ‘remaster’ sounded this good. It’s not “brickwalled”, it’s a real remaster. Totally different feeling than the original. I got the 2LP with the holodisc. Super cool effect. Download card gives you the album in .aif format. I’ve been listening to this since it came out inThe 80’s hundreds of times. I swear it’s like I’m hearing it for the first time.

The LP with the Hologram is warped-I bought two, both warped oppisite of the hologram. I wonder if this happens from the process. Anyone have the issue? Problem solved with a clamp though.

The SQ is great on this reissue!Having compared it to my OP https://www.discogs.com/Guns-N-Roses-Appetite-For-Destruction/release/383777 to my ear it sounds quite different, not better or worse just different. There're details that are more forward in the mix than the original such as the acoustic guitar on Sweet Child, but the sound is very clean, very flat, with excellent dynamics and a really nice soundstage. If you buy this reissue expecting an exact facsimile of the original you'll be disappointed, but if happy to embrace it's differences you'll be stoked.In my opinion this record is a worthy addition to anyone's collection.

I initially thought the price tag was a bit heavy for a reissue, but after looking into it I decided to buy it. It's a truly great pressing and gives you a lot for the money. The slipcover is simply gorgeous and the vinyl quality and sound is very crisp and clear. I also got the "super deluxe edition" with my download card, which made it so much more worth it. Totally recommend this pressing!

This remaster is such a ridiculously clean pressing! This is absolutely how it should be done! I've been listening to this album since it came out in 1987 and this is the best I've EVERY heard it sound! The packaging too is spectacular. If you're anything like a Guns N' Roses fan you NEED this. Also the download code is for all of the tracks from the 5 CD version too :-)

ACOS

4CD version, the 5th disc is a Blu-ray Disc with a brand new (Sep 2017) surround mix created from the original analogue multitrack tapes by multiple Grammy winner (many times for surround sound too) Elliot Scheiner, along with Bob Clearmountain and Steven Wilson the best surround mixers on the planet. Also includes all the videos along with new surround mixes too, including an Elliot Scheiner 5.1 mix of Patience, all in high resolution 24/96 surround. Shame they didn't sell that disc separately, it has all the stuff I want.

a really different sounding version of this album but a damn good one. Comparing this to the original vinyl pressing, this reissue has a more laid back polished sound. Incredible soundstage, and I'm hearing certain passes of an extra guitar, or a louder backing vocal (Nightrain... Nightrain...) that just seem to jump from the speakers more. The rawness of the original is gone. That said the power and blues of the album fills that gap. That said if you don't have a copy yet, get it. No regrets.

Such a great sounding record!!!!!!!!!!!Absolutely floored. Appetite For Destruction was the first tape I ever bought as a kid and I've listened to this album more than any other album, and probably more than most GNR fans. I know it inside out. I can tell you with absolute certainty it has never sounded as good as it does here. Every song feels like new life has been breathed into it. This should be referenced by any label/band/pressing plant when it comes to what 'definitive edition on vinyl' SHOULD mean. Packaging is fantastic as well. For $33 this is a steal. Respectfully I’ll disagree - why get the one guy at Sterling who CAN cut lacquers directly in an all analogue chain to cut from digitally mastered 24/192 files? They got so much right, but when you had the tapes in NYC at Jensen’s room why not walk them down the Hall and let Ryan K Smith master the vinyl separately and cut it directly from the stereo analogue master?They definitely left something on the table here and I hope other labels don’t go this route when they have a perfectly good analogue stereo master especially when they’re already pulling the tapes to master the digital formats from!

Wasn't going to grab this originally, but I had an FYE gift card and nothing else I really wanted to use it on, so I pulled the trigger. Glad I did. I've been wanting a vinyl version of this for some time, but originals and reissues alike are too pricy, and I've heard that the original CD is just as good, if not better than the original LP, so I was never too keen to get it on vinyl. Now that this is spread across 2 LPs, this is probably the best this will sound on vinyl.The guitars sound great, drums and vox are very up front, I could use a little more off Duff's bass, but that's just my personal taste, and as I recall, the original master didn't emphasize it much, either. Doesn't sound compressed, at least not that much.Vinyl quality is fantastic. GZ usually gets a lot of shit for bad quality LPs, but in reality, they usually just get bad masters to work with. I've never had any problems to speak of with their vinyl. Flat, clean, centered. Spot on.Having both versions of the artwork included is a nice touch, although you could tell they just blew up the original art on the gatefold to make it fit, it looks a little grainy and unclear. The slipcase is nice, though I'll have to be careful storing it so it doesn't get damaged by or damage other records in my collection. The pics on the inserts and the gatefold are great, makes you wonder why these weren't used in the original album.Only real gripe here, is side 4 - the hologram. It's one of those things where you wonder, "of all the things they COULD HAVE put on this side, and they did THIS?" With all due respect to the artist that did this, it's just a gimmick, and something you'll look at once and say, "cool", and NEVER look at again. It's not like it changes or anything every time you look at it. I would rather a few of the unreleased songs be included, like "Shadow Of Your Love", and about 3 or 4 of the other unreleased songs from the Sound City demos would've been a nice touch. And at least you'll listen to them again, and it wouldn't have been a waste of a side. Again, personal opinion, but I can't help but think many others would agree.Aside from that - I think everyone involved with this - from the band, mastering engineer, plating/pressing plant, art designers - was on the same page here, and wanted to put out a quality product, and it shows.

I agree with you 100% on the grainy blown-up original art on the outer gate fold. If they had kept the original size not to soften / blur the art it would've been a total perfect re-issue. Surely they could've used some kind of border around it.
