House, electro, italo, techno, synthpop...matter a lot to me as previous dozens of reviews can testify, but as Ferris Bueller once said (and The Chameleon once sampled) "life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it". Well for one of these "look around" (and inner) moments, the ideal soundtrack for me could be "Our House", in my opinion one of the greatest and most emotional pop-songs of all time, beautiful simple lyrics about the "back to basics" feeling (in their case referring to owning a house and being home with the beloved one, but metaphorically anyone can adapt it with one's own personal "back to basics" criterias), and musically sounding like an Americana version of The Beatles or The Kinks (even if it was written by Englishman Graham Nash), ie more breathing, relaxed, 'open-air', also evoking Nilsson or the Beach Boys' most beautiful slow songs but with less connection to classical music and more to traditional folk and country heritage. A true, amazing american song in the most noble sense.
