Full of great synth harmonies, piano melodies, jungle bunnie screams and inventive drum patterns. An outstanding album. It' just... what is it with all those jungle bunnies screaming "together!!", "hey hey!" or "uuuuuuuuh"? Seems they couldn't make a single tune without those vocal snippets back then.

These won't be around forever & are getting harder to come by in good condition as time goes on, like much of the early Shadow releases. The Foul Play V.I.P mix is an exclusive, and while the whole LP is TOP notch (Living For The Future V.I.P needs no mention) it's this tune that gives anyone goosebumps who was around at the time, and no doubt any newcomers appreciating it with fresh ears. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this- Lady Diana had literally just died & the Paris tunnel scene was all over the news. In shock, we headed out & a friend dropped 'Renegade Snares' V.I.P & with all the life affirming thoughts going around, it just melted hearts everywhere...There was emotive ambience in D&B back when, and this captures that vibe perfectly. A classic in every sense of the word, deadly, haunting & uplifting in one take.

Beautifully summarized dylaf. This is without doubt a seminal record, and I'm glad I was around when it dropped! Some records/LP's I will never part with, no matter how old I get, they are simply part of me...this is one of them!Big up Omni Trio, thanks for the vibes!

Bought it s for the greatest jungle tune of all time , the VIP mix of snares , for those who were there back BITD this used to rock dance floors from September 1994 to September 1995 , just a magical remix of an all ready superb tune , I wonder why it never had its own release?? Remember bidding on kenny ken's dubplate few years back , got to 100£ and stopped lol, on the subject of kenny ken , his dreamscape 17 mix , in which this features in all its beautiful glory , is an education in jungle music ,what a monster of a set, kenny

Those days were beyond amazing. Nothing could come close right now, the political times, the rebellion, the sheer living for now-ness & talent coming out the speakers. Insane times you had to be there to not remember correctly :-))))))

Artwork for this is light blue in colour, not dark blue as shown.

Having bought this when it was originally released, it's fair to say I have never really stopped listening to this album. Timeless quality. Even now as a record producer I find myself coming back here for ideas. While club friendly, this record also has a chill aspect that makes it work as a background music as well.

Not much to say about this If your a hardcore head, darkcore head, jungle techno head, Jungle head, or DnB head you should own this full stop. Simple !! It’s not really an album as such it’s more so remixes and tunes that were not released as 12’s, class it as anything you want. I got this for my birthday back in the day and it’s in my top 5 of albums and compilations. Stand out tunes for me are the Mainline 95 lick and Shadow Play, the rest are mighty but these two stand out for me. Rob proving yet again how much of a don he is, Shadow Play is a killer love this tune never heard it played out it would rock any gig. Main line 95 is just nice, just so nice jazzy and beautiful. If you love Omni Trio like lots of others and myself it’s essential to own this, because he won’t be making any more! And the best thing of all it still sounds fresh Robs tunes will never sound old. Salute to the king!

Love the production credentials of Omni Trio, amazing music here; gem after gem, but if I was hard-pushed to name one tune that really floors me it's "Together", with some of the best string/piano melodies I've heard in a Jungle tune of this period.....remember Grooverider playing this 94 @ Amnesia House's Southern Smile event, use to cain the tape on my paper rounds and often wondered what this tune was for years. Just...magical. Omni Trio. A true legend of the Scene, absolutely superb stuff!! :)

Decent looking vinyl copies of this available for less than £20. Do yourself a favour and pick up some absolute hardcore classics. Timeless stuff.

A great collection of Omni Trio's earlier work where D&B is emerging from Hardcore. More dancefloor orientated than his subsequent albums. There is some great beat programming (especially if you like machine gun snares) and is generally very uplifting which D&B was going away from at the time.'Renegade Snares (Foul Play Remix)' must be up with 'Valley of the Shadows' as being one of biggest early D&B tunes and is still dropped in sets to this day.
Kahavor
A really dated drum'n'bass album this is, we're talking tacky strings samples, cheap piano presets, and endlessly looped diva vocals ala "oooooh, feeeels gooood, ayayayayayayaya" etc. Don't waste your money, get some T-Power if you are craving vintage beats.

Are you being serious Numanoid. Anyone who's anyone should have this in their collection if you like the oldskool breaks stuff. Not only because it covers a little piece of history but also because it has some cracking tunes within. Such a shame the vinyl version seemed a little quiet and needed boosting though. Either way, this is a must.

I disagree so much it hurts. T-Power's 'Self Evident...' album is great too though.

Omni Trio's first album, THE DEEPEST CUT, is in some ways just a compilation of their singles, but what singles they are! "Renegade Snares," perhaps is the best known, with its rattling percussion and snares, of course. And while the Foul Play mix of "Renegade Snares" is the best known, Haigh's own version stands up well itself. "Together" sounds like a piercing amalgamation of a gospel-like diva and furious jungle beats, while the deep chords of the FBD Project's mix of "Living for the Future" sounds vital even today (the original is quite good as well, even if it's slightly more spare). "Soul of Darkness" does indeed go into darker territory with its heavy bass tones, though Haigh knows when to lighten the mood as well. The simple piano line that rings through "Shadowplay" hints at the melodic tendencies that will continue to expand throughout his musical career. And is that a 4/4 beat I hear on "Alien Creed"? Something about this album keeps it compelling and exciting. Apparently, you never forget the deepest cut.

There singles ? Omni Trio is one person despite the trio in his name.

A great album from Omni Trio. If your a fan of the old Omni Trio material this album is definitely worth getting even though it misses some of his early 'hits' (e.g. Soul Promenade & Mystic Stepper). 'Soul of Darkness' is an interesting darker take on 'Soul Promenade'. And of course it has the classic 'Renegade Snares' on it!
