So what's the quality like? I'm not really interested in what pressing came out first. Since this is on double LP I'd like to know how the sound compares to the other pressings.

Haven't heard the Music For Nations or the Music On Vinyl releases so I can't compare, but this sounds really good. Since it's a very short album split on two LPs, the grooves are wide and let the stylus dig deep, picking up a lot of bass and detail. I can't figure out why it's not 45 rpm though. Would definetly have fit on these two discs without compromise.

Twilight Delirium is right! The Koch version was released in 2008 (see: http://www.allmusic.com/album/damnation-mw0000018590/releases ). The first issue has the catalogue number MFN294, released by the Music for Nations label, which closed its doors in 2004. The misleading thing about this Koch release is the 'available for the first time anywhere' sticker. I don't know why it says so, probably because it was released for the first time in the US. In addition, you won't find a version with this sticker on popsike.com which has been sold before 2008. Here you can see the details of a 2009 auction, which clearly states that this is a 2008 release, you can also see the sticker ( see: http://www.popsike.com/Opeth-Damnation-2HQLP-180gr-Deluxe-Vinyl/290330379183.html ).
melody of you
My note is late but since I now read it, I have to state that there is nothing misleading on sticker's statement,it is correct that this 2008 reissue is first time available anywhere on 180gr vinyl
Brick my own
If you bought this thinking is a 2003 release you have been cheated

This is a reissue! I have the 2012 reissue because I was completely unaware of Opeth back in 2003 when Damnation first came out and only bought this recently, after the 2012 version became available.
