Nearly impossible to find; I have spent 15 years searching for a this cassette-only release, to no avail. I even contacted the artist directly, who was very gracious. However Mychael Danna also had no idea how to obtain a copy. The second in a series of Planetarium "Night Music", this is superb ambient & electronic and even could be classified as an early example of ambient/dub music. The first volume Mychael Danna released on the Canadian Chacra label, "Planets Stars and Galaxies" was an even finer ambient/electronic recording, also released around 1988. I had this cassette for a short time, made a poor quality dub to another cassette, and then may have lent it out, much to my regret. 'Would probably pay a very high premium price to obtain this gem, if I ever located one "Mars: The Journey Begins" is an example of Danna's early contemporary semi-ambient electronic style. This release, (and especially his first in the "Night Music" series, Volume 1, "Planets Stars and Galaxies") still strikes my ears as similar to his classic seminal releases. These include "Sirens" and Skies" along with earlier CD collaborations with Tim Clement, such as "Summerland" and "Another Sun".

Ironically I USED to own this tape! It is a really great album of thematic space music. I am stooped as to why Danna doesnt release all his back catalog at least as I-Tunes downloads. I have been looking for Elements his debut and thats only on lp which I dont care to purchase unless its in the digital domain. In the age of I-Tunes it takes minimal effort to get this music out there for fans to purchase and enjoy. One can only hope!
