And the more important at my sense, one of the best french garage band of all time.
After some handsome research into the subject along with the news that there might be a new album in the making, (rumours) it looks as if there was 2000 copies of the first CD issued by Rennes-based label DIG! A first batch of 1000 was issued then another lot followed whence unexpected sales reached a peak. This is now rare and very sought after it seems. James Chase
Source >> From the GORGONS website. Number one was recorded at Red Studios in July 92.During that session 19 songs were recorded but only 13 appear on the CD. Bruce Brand and Graham Semark at the controls. Childish was initially courted to record the band but turned down the offer famously saying he 'did not like The Gorgons'. The band stole his tea pot while he wasn’t looking as the short encounter took place in Childish’s home in Kent. The rest of the songs get split into various singles or compilations. 2 songs (it seems) remain unissued…from that first GORGONS session. La mamie des prouts 2012.
This is the first GORGONS album...CD release only. One of 500. Out on DIG Records, an independent French label from the 90's. Recorded at RED STUDIOS engineered by Graham Semark and Bruce Brand's spirit in the background. This is a fine piece of French music minus the accordion and the castanets. A must have for all Gorgons fans. Reviewed by James Chase. Corrected March 2012.
