This was huge in Gothenburg 1993 ... Every DJ bought this track for the "Crystal Clear (456 Mix)" only ... Big balearic track in the north ... Im a huge fan of the B2 // Subwaybaby

Crystal Clear was inspired by the electronic shops on Tottenham Court Road selling electronic surveillance devices and bugs offering "crystal clear reception" and by the films The Conversation and Videodrome.

Amazing release and an absolute BARGAIN. All four mixes are class.

B-sides are pure Norris very much like the Further LPhttp://www.discogs.com/artist/424592-Further-2 he released in 1994

Clear like an unmuddied lake is an absolute masterpiece of ambient acid house (if that's a label) from the Orb. One of my favorite pieces of music, discovered via an Astralwerks ambient comp back in my tender years. This track has been with us for that long, a generation, and it is STILL ahead of its time.

Thanks are due to you for this! It's inspired me for many years.... I wish there were a black vinyl copy bc my clear vinyl is pretty crap at this point! Due for a repress I'd say.
Hallolan
thankyou very much! i made that! the guy below who says its richard norris is incorrect. the entire track was made by me, there is not much of the original left if i remember correctly.

The Grid had a lot of success with later tracks, but for me, this was their finest moment. While the Justin Robertson mixes were popular dancefloor tracks, the best was the Trimar mix, being a subtle improvement of the 456 mix. The Orb remixes are a good example of the way Paterson's music was heading - a bit more upbeat than Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld and would probably fit onto Orblivion more than anywhere. By that point the Grid were filling dancefloors with cheesy swamps and cowboys. Credit to them though - they're in my collection.

With _Crystal Clear_, The Grid boys offer some of their more celebrated remixes. First is the Justin Robertson's "Prankster Prophet Mix" with some upbeat house dub (the "Prankster Trance Dance" is virtually identical, with the loops sequenced in a slightly different order). The Grid's own "Trimar Mix" isn't substantially different from the album version, but adds a female vocal. The go-to mixes, however, are the Orb's ambient versions, from the "Clear, Like an Unmuddied Lake" with its direct kick drum and reverberating melodic lines to the more beat-driven "The Crystal Clear Water Revival." Marvelous.
