The album cover of this release fully does the album justice. Slightly odd,avantgarde, but with a warm glow.Theres many fusions of styles on this album and it's one of those great CD's where everytrack is actually different and each track has some kind of suprise, or variation.Certainly it's roots are black metal. We have hyper blast drumming, double bass drumming,shreiking Cradle-esque vocals, icey cold guitaring. But this slice of nordic ice cold noise has a soft warm center running through it. Most tracks have a calming passages of soft bass guitaring,blusey chilled out guitar picking and almost warm ambient followed with choral vocals to help break up the blast beating.Couple of tracks are either narrated against the back drop of piano or ambient, are or mostly instrumental.As well as that, Solefald manages to throw in some handclaps and Nordic mouthharps in there too. This is a great album. It's not overly long either.
