Everybody knows "cafe del mar", the incredible trance classic that is being remixed over and over again, almost every year, after all these years. The gigantic success of it threw the rest of Paul's productions into the threshold of oblivion. This album is a gem, lost in the middle of every other gems produced in the mid nineties, as far as ambient is concerned. Very rare, but not very after sought, "easy intensive" has incredible, spine chilling moments, that can face up Neutron 9000, Oliver Lieb, Ralf Hildenbeutel or sometimes even Aphex Twin's most beautiful SAW II songs. "Moody" is one of those moments. A long, melodic, hypnotic and progressive quiet journey, with tiny drops of synth here and there. And just before the end, "Stillin" slaps you in the face with an imense large ocean of cold air, in the middle of the summer. If you hate "cafe del mar", and trance, be advised... this has nothing to do with it.
