For me one of those slept on gems from the golden era. Two very subtly different cuts, but both powerfully effective. This EP shows Francis really at the height of his powers, with an effortless management of texture and layers, pure and reductive arrangement - yet at the same time very rich and expansive. All of the components have their function and character, and his playful (re)constructions that take place throughout utilise their full potential. While elements such as the bass-line make this one feel a little dated, when you strip away any surrounding historical frameworks it can transport you to some special places. This shows an artist in complete and utter mastery of the art form. I feel like WIG019 got massively slept on, but when dropped at just the right time it will blow minds and open doors.
