Got me through editing my dissertation, thanks Donnacha! I wouldn't be surprised if this was a 'one-box' production (similar to Love From Dust) given the sparseness and simplicity of the music, which is beautiful. My copy (CD) seems quite oddly mastered, with some loud high end and noisy transients on the middle tracks. Perhaps this is a stylistic gesture, but watch out for them if you're listening loud.

This album is a truly dub techno masterpice to the same nivel as Rhythm & Sound "w/ Tikiman", Pole 1, 2 & 3, Fluxion "Vibrant Form 1" & "2" or Deadbeat "Wild Life Documentaries" from the first generation of minimal/house dub (1994/2002). What a pity that "Growing Up In Public" don't get the same cult status and stay relatively obscure today. The second disapointment is Donnacha Costello who never repeat the formula and loose himself into other ways of electronic music. He introduce me to Force Inc/Force tracks label, an alternative between Rhythm & Sound and ~Scape. Big up to the seller who make me discover this album in Lisboa, Portugal, 2001 February. 19/20

Hello Adam01,You are welcome with your point of vue. Regarding this album we have 2 differents visions. It's minimal dub techno for me, i stay on this position. Now it's hard to debate about personnal interpretations...Sorry you don't like this one, perhaps you'll find some interest after more listennings?Cordialy.

I bought this LP because your review said it was a " dub techno masterpiece". This Lp is not Dub Techno. It is pure Minimal Techno. It is a nice album, but it is not epic. It is very middle of the road. It has a few highlights, but there is no Dub. A little bit of delay does not make a track a Dub Tek track.
