One quick listen to Holldën's maiden release on Disturb and you can tell he's somewhat of an unsung hero of the uncanny. But take a second listen and you'll realize that, in fact, he's thrice the techno persona: a solid guardian of classic techno, a surfer for innovative aesthetics and a sucker for moody twists. Whether he's being strictly tantalizing ('Otto Pilot', 'Talk of a Coup'), melting the flower pots ('Test Fires', 'Brain Debbie'), or simply moonwalking in gravitational bliss ('Voices of Time'), he's bound to take the listener into a highly suggestive state of mind that's all too pleasing to dance. Taking bold action against conformity from a platform of moving, yet familiar, notes is no small achievement in a scene overpopulated with clones. Holldën is no clone, that's for sure. His fingerprints are all over the loot. And that's already pleasingly unsettling on its own.
