Hats off to the wonderful 'Light in the Attic' record label for recently reissuing Jim Ford's 'Harlan Country' with the original artwork and tracklisting. For those of you who want to hear a little more of Ford's country/soul magic, this compilation contains the full 'Harlan Country' album with a truckload of bonus material. Now I know bonus material tagged on to the end of great albums can be a waste of time and sometimes spoil the pleasure of the original album. In this case, I'm pleased to say that many of the bonus tracks are superb and well worth your time. This compilation is also home to one of my favourite song titles of all time: 'Happy Songs Sell Records, Sad Songs Sell Beer'. Great little book is included too if you want to geek up on Ford's recording career (if you can call one album a career!).
