The sound quality of this 1st press is so amazing I can’t put it to words! It has an amazing bottom end with excellent separation. A tubey soundstage that gives you that “band in the room” presence. Just brilliantly mastered.

I have not heard the original pressing, but I find this pressing phenomenal. Extremely quiet. Bouncy. Nice highs. A must.

Classic Album! Remaster sounds ok, not as dynamic as the Quality Pressing (RSD 16') Live at Bottom Line. Mine has a tad of Simbalence that is not present on other albums and isolated only to this one. I'm hoping it dissipates with cleaning.

JAY RETURNS! WITH his introspective intelligent balladry we've come to expect/respect in tact. An almost even mixture of cow-punk ("Drown" and "Route" will bring you back to '91s STILL FEEL GONE) and mid-western workingman folk with sparse installments of pedal steel guitar and banjo throughout - this album is a perfect accompaniment to Uncle Tupelo's rootsy country swaggering swan song ANODYNE. Just hearing Jay's voice again comforts me to no end. Forget all the others in this now popular genre - this is the real thing... The band is well rounded out with help from Mike Heidorn (first two UNCLE TUPELO albums) on drums and a host of others (including some Jayhawks). I really hate to say this but it is however true; together Jay & Jeff Tweedy (aka Wilco) had the best damn thing going in UNCLE TUPELO but as happens all to often, put two singer/songwriters together and they're bound to disagree and eventually break up leaving us with fragments of what was and what might have been. A great beginning and a clean slate for Jay Farrar. Cool name. Highly Recommended.

Solid sound on this remaster. Nice treatment for a fantastic album. I haven't listened to it in a little while after revisting it often for many years, and I forgot how good it was. It's 20 yrs old, I was too when I first heard it.

Does anyone know about the quality of the vinyl pressing? It appears to be the thin WB style but I wanted to check since it commands such high prices sometimes.

I do. It’s Fantastic and and cut from the master. Do yourself a favor and spend the bread on this (the first press).

My copy's excellent too. However, I'd assume it's pressed from the same digital master they used for the cd. The '90s and all...

The SQ on this release is excellent. It is thin vinyl (140g). It got even better after a washing on my RCM. Of note, there is some sibilance on several cuts like "Live Free" & "Too Early" from Jays mic-ing vocals that is recording related.
