--if the title track doesn't just put the biggest smile on my face and make me move every time I listen to it ,'D Thanks for doing you, FP.
Gavidor
Super release, Floating points does always the job !
Goltigor
Why does this record play in mono? Kind of confusing to me.
Matty
One of the tunes literally plays in mono! It's weirding me out. I don't think it's my mixer, because the flip side is fine.
Ungall
It doesn't?? It's stereoat least 10 words must be blah blah
Manris
As a member of the Floating Points "40 something" fanbase and proud owner of this fantastic 12" I wanted something more positive to appear at the top.of the comments. I can only assume that the review below is sarcasm as pretty much the opposite of everything written is true. Is there's one person producing organic, warm, atmospheric, cutting edge electronic music, it's the Floaty P. Every track is a killer.
Hellblade
I'll have to dig mine out then, weilo. I bought in about 2011 and think I've only spun it once...
Charyoll
I have to agree. This record is an absolute classic, both as a house record and as a truly unique take on dance music. If you don't get it you ain't doing it right.
blodrayne
vacuum boogie would be an all time classic if.....it was produced 20 years earlier, the lifeless "laptop sounding" low end just kills any musicality in most of the modern electronic music, this is a perfect example - from the mids to the top, it's a very memorable track, but the weak, lifeless and overally "loud but perfectly meaningless" kick & bass combo are just too much, sorry - the 20-something fanbase won't get what im talking about, but i think the producer should understand it.
Skilkancar
safe to say that anyone hating on this track has lost their groove
Dorilune
I am 22 and hate it. Sooooooo.... not all of us.
Mbon
the 20 something fan base gets what you're talking about... try not to be so full of yourself
Siralune
@Beane Exactly. When you consider that all his early work was made in his bedroom, very little equipment, whilst studying for a PhD...And anyway, that sub-bass sounds spot on. Definitely not "Laptop sounding". When I think of "laptop sounding" low end I think of shite like Skrillex...which is actually low midrange. Utter shitfest. Floating Points is eons ahead, even with this early stuff.
Iseared
I think he's gonna be just fine to be honest :)
Cetnan
This is a really wonderful record, essential. Much prefer the A to either B sides, but still worth many listens
Wizard
Vacuum Boogie has one of the best sub bass sounds going.
Gaeuney
insanely good record, vacuum boogie is top drawer
Urtte
wonderful release, essential
Xor
Not really the usual stuff I play but this just blew my mind. Top quality slow jazzy house from a real musician. Amazing record 10/10.
Domarivip
Real nice & warm deep stuff, more of this please
Umge
Some of the best jazzy/techno/broken beat/whatever goodness around. 5/5
Muniath
has just been repressed this week commencing 9th September 2013, in all the main stores at a cheap price
Fonceiah

Picture in your mind eating something really sugary and extremely good. That's what I feel like when I listen to the Vacuum EP. I haven't heard deep techno this good in I don't know how long. Makes me think of Morgan Geist meets Theo Parrish or something, but a truly novel take that pushes the whole concept a step further. Its a release like this that reminds us to keep the faith in our musical roots in this era of over-saturation and rote regurgitation of ideas. Bravo. Beautiful.

I'm not such a big fan of that new "electronic-slo-mo-boogie-disco" UK scene, a little too smart and self-indulgent for my continental european taste. That said, when they speed up the tempo, these guys can do amazing things such as "Vacuum Boogie", a truly innovative and emotional way to deal with old recipes. This one sounds like a fresh, giant mash-up of two-step/UK garage bassline, deep-house chords, some ravey/bleepy synth sounds with a real sense of construction and almost melancholic melody. In result : a beautiful tune to which you can lose yourself to while dancing, but also driving or just chilling at home. High quality stuff.
